History of Ghana Deaf Mission/
Education-Non-profit organization:

The vision for the Ghana Deaf Education and Mission started in my classroom in 2015 when students in my American Sign Language Honors Society decided to do a project called One-To-The-World. By using the internet to find a school serving the Deaf and hard of hearing in West Africa, the students were able to locate Demo-Deaf School as the school for their research.

Indeed, they found plenty of needs. The students completed their research and decided to raise funds for the school in the amount of $2,000. That year, the students were able to raise$2000 with part of the money coming from some faculties and staff. The students donated $2,000, and my church, Mclean Bible Church, donated another $5,000. Thus, my ASL students together with my church together raised $7,000.

I made my first international trip to the school with my church supporting my education and mission project in 2016. From then on, the Ghana Education and Mission was born. The Ghana Education and Mission became a non-profit in 2021 for the sole purpose of raising funds for the school and its students and providing spiritual and educational needs to the school. We appreciate your donation and thank you for your investment in the welfare of Deaf youths and Adults in Ghana, West Africa.

Purpose and goals

The mission of our organization is to further the social, recreational, and educational causes of Demo-Deaf School, and to provide resources that benefit the school, staff, and students. The organization has three goals for Deaf Schools which include preschool, middle to high school:

  1. Strategic: The founder and supporters of the company visit the school annually, and meet with the principals, staff, and other stakeholders at the Demo-Deaf School in Ghana to discuss and determine the educational, social, recreational, and spiritual resources of the school, staff, and students.

  2. Tactical: The company then determines what can be done to achieve goals and where to get the financial resources to provide the infrastructure that the school needs for its staff and students including recreational and educational resources.

  3. Operational: The School provides us with its master plans for the resources needed and we appeal for their operational funds needed to provide the resources. The company has already provided 70 laptops to the school in the past, recreational funds, and other resources for the staff and students as you can see from the pictures on the website.

  4. Now, the immediate need of the school is to raise funds in the amount of $400,000 to improve its soccer, track field, and cafeteria. This is a private school for the Deaf in Ghana that is self-supported. The timeline to raise the $400,000 is July 2024.

  5. After the field is constructed and the cafeteria is renovated, we will stage the first Christian West African Deaf Olympic with the goal of evangelism the deaf youth and adults in West Africa.
